Guides & Tools

Real-life support for real-life disability, caregiving, and the relationships that hold everything together.
Life with disability, chronic illness, trauma, or caregiving doesn’t pause so you can “get your system together.” Most days, you’re building the plane while you’re already in the air. These tools exist to make that load lighter. They’re practical, lived‑experience‑tested, and designed to help you stabilize your days, communicate clearly, advocate for yourself, and protect your energy when everything feels like too much.
Below, you’ll find the full library of ISAN tools — from quick scripts to full guides, from crisis supports to daily‑life planners. Start anywhere. Follow what speaks to you. Every tool is built to stand on its own, and each one is here to help you breathe a little easier and move through your life with more clarity, steadiness, and support.
You don’t have to figure this out alone. Start with whatever speaks to you

How the tools are designed

Every tool in this library is built to do one thing: make your life easier in the middle of circumstances that are anything but. They’re shaped by lived experience, tested in real chaos, and designed to help you stabilize, communicate, advocate, and protect your energy without needing a perfect day, a clear brain, or a full battery.
You’ll see two kinds of tools here:

Lite Tools (free)

These are the quick, low‑cognitive‑load versions that are simple, accessible, and easy to use on the days when you can’t handle anything extra. They’re published as free posts because everyone deserves support, even when money is tight or life is on fire. Lite tools teach the core concepts, offer immediate relief, and help you get your footing without overwhelm.

Premium Tools (full version)

These are the deeper, more structured versions that contain the full systems, planners, scripts, guides, and frameworks that take you further. They save you hours of emotional labor, reduce decision fatigue, and give you ready‑to‑use language, structure, and clarity. Premium tools are priced to support the sustainability of ISAN: the time, labor, research, lived‑experience expertise, and accessibility work that goes into building resources that actually help people survive their lives.
Free tolls create access. Premium tools help create stability, for you and the work that makes all of this craziness possible.
Use what you need. Start where you are. Every tool is built to stand alone, and every one of them is here to help you move through your days with more steadiness, clarity, and support.

How the guides are designed

Every guide follows the same structure so you always know what to expect:
- A warm, honest introduction
- “What this is really about” — the emotional core
- Practical steps you can take today
- Scripts for hard conversations
- Checklists for clarity
- “What we learned the hard way” — lived-experience insights
- A gentle next step (like a related guide or Dear ISAN)
